One of China’s leading producers of high-performance copper alloys, Ningbo Boway, has renewed its confidence in Danieli Fröhling with an order for a new, 20-high copper foil rolling mill. The project will support the expansion of copper-alloy foil production and strengthen the cooperation between the two companies.
The line will achieve a new milestone in the rolling of harder copper alloys, producing finished material as thin as 20 microns. These new-generation, smart alloy foils are mainly used in aerospace and electronics applications.
Danieli’s scope of supply includes a new, 20-high reversing mill for rolling strip with a maximum entry thickness of 0.5 mm to a minimum finish thickness of 0.02 mm, at a maximum strip width of 650 mm.
The twin-housing type mill will be equipped with the proprietary, intermediate roll double-bending system to improve strip flatness, and direct hydraulic roll-gap control for high-precision thickness performance.
The new mill also will accommodate a wide range of work-roll diameters, ensuring efficient and economical rolling operation.
The core equipment of the new mill will be manufactured, assembled and pre-tested at Danieli HQ workshops. The electrical and automation package will feature Danieli Automation advanced solutions, such as the real-time automation system for thickness and flatness control.
The startup of the new copper rolling mill is planned for 2028.
