About us

Danieli equipment was first introduced in the North American market the late 1960’s. Over the years, there have been several strategic acquisitions that have strengthened its presence in the region and enlarged its portfolio of products in the metals industry.

The first key acquisition was Wean Industries in 1993. Based in Youngstown, Ohio, Wean was a World leader in the manufacturing of strip finishing lines. A year later, United Engineering of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was acquired. United Engineering was a premier supplier of hot rolling mills for the steel and non-ferrous product industry. These two companies would become what is now the Danieli Wean United. The focus of this product line is flat products from hot or cold mills and processing lines. In 2001, Danieli acquired The Kohler Coating Machinery Corporation. Kohler’s focus is galvanizing and other molten metal coating processes. The Danieli Kohler product line is the leader in the supply of wiping equipment for galvanizing and galvalume lines.

 

In 2014, Danieli Group announced the merger of the USA division of Danieli Automation with the independent systems integrator Taranis Inc. (Birmingham, AL) The newly formed Danieli Taranis, LLC provides electrical engineering and automation/process controls for the metals industry in North America. Together with Danieli Automation SpA, Buttrio (Italy), Danieli Taranis supports the needs of North American steel producers with innovative products and systems on the cutting edge of technologies such as: LV/MV drives, induction heating systems, special gauges and sensors, advanced process control systems.
