Endless Welding Rolling is a process of flash-welding the tail end of one billet to the head end of the next billet as it emerges from the reheating furnace. It eliminates the billet gap, reduces cobbles, minimizes scrap, and increases volumes for finished product.
CMC South Carolina, USA; Baku Steel, Azerbaijan; HoaPhat Steel, Vietnam; and Tosyali, Algeria put their confidence in the Danieli Endless Welding Rolling technology ordering new EWR® units for their production lines. In particular the ones to be supplied to CMC and Tosyali will be the most productive EWR® lines in the world, operating at up to 180 tph.
Operation of the new billet welders has brought substantial benefits in plant productivity and efficiency (85% to 90% for section mills and from 95.5% to 99.5% yield value for bar mills), mainly thanks to the extra-rolling time coming from the elimination of roll gaps, and significant savings in plant manpower. The consequent positive effects on production cost will result in very short return of investment.
The Danieli scorecard totals 29 EWR® units supplied or under construction worldwide since 1997.
