SN Longos (part of Spain's Megasa Group) assigned to Danieli the order for an additional spooler line for its bar and rod mill in Seixal, Portugal.
This new contract, awarded in June 2015, will continue the long and successful collaboration between the two companies, supported and enhanced by the extremely positive results achieved with the projects completed in the previous years.
The recent order will include the installation of the new line at Seixal works in the super-flexible high-capacity bar and wire rod mill supplied by Danieli in 2007.
The plant is capable of producing heat-treated, 8 to 25-mm-dia rebars, regularly wound in ultra-compact coils, weighing 2.8 ton (line designed for up to 3.5 ton). Thanks to their cobble-free un-coiling capability, the hot-rolled spooled coils directly feed the downstream cold processing lines, avoiding traditional off-line operations such as de-coiling, stretching and re-winding, with consequent substantial reduction in transformation costs.
This will be the 24th spooler line worldwide, since 2000.
Startup will take place at the end of 2016.
