Phu My Flat Steel, part of Viet Nam Steel Corporation, contracted Danieli Service Vietnam to refurbish the gearbox that powers its cold rolling mill stand in Phu My, following a spindle failure that compromised the gearbox geometry.
The activity included on-site machining carried out by the Danieli Service that made use of special equipment.
In order to limit the stoppage of the mill, the project was developed in three main phasis.
First, an initial laser-survey needed to define the problem and decide the corrective actions was followed by the supply of a new set of spare gears and bearings, with dedicated bushings manufactured in Danieli workshops.
The project execution phase consisting of on-site gearbox machining to reestablish gearbox geometries and installing all new components was performed in seven days, including running tests, and earned the customer’s full satisfaction.
