Organized by Microsoft Germany with management consultancy firm Roland Berger and presented annually in Hannover, the Microsoft Intelligent Manufacturing Award -MIMA is often referred to as the “Oscar for the manufacturing industry”.
This year the MIMA winner for the “Innovate!” category was Danieli Automation DIGI&MET, together with its technological partner BeanTech, for the pioneering digital quality management solution, Q3-Premium.
The Q3-Premium solution is a modular and highly scalable suite of software applications designed to meet the increasing requirements of steel production by building a powerful quality-management system aimed at production optimization and final product-quality improvement.
Based on state-of-the-art industrial IoT, advanced analytics and AI technologies and methodologies, Q3-Premium improves the conformity rate, reduces overall waste, consumption, and CO2 emissions.
As of today, two Q3-Premium solutions are being implemented in steelmaking and long-product rolling facilities at ABS and Scaw Metals, and two more are under development for flat products at the Nucor Steel West Virginia QSP-DUE plant and in a cold-mill complex in Italy.
