voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH has awarded Danieli the contract for five automatic scrap yard cranes, integrated with the Danieli Scrap Yard Management System (Q3-DYMS), at its Donawitz site in Austria.
The supply follows recent orders for two new electric arc furnaces and two semi-automatic EAF charging cranes and is part of the company’s sustainable steel program for green steel production.
The new cranes will feature advanced automation technologies, including absolute positioning systems, intelligent video cameras (Danieli Eye-On), electrical anti-sway and regenerative drives, scrap material classification and volumetric detection for yard inventory.
Capable of operating with electromagnets or electrohydraulic grabs, the cranes will ensure efficient, autonomous and energy-saving operation.
By choosing Danieli’s automated scrap yard solutions, voestalpine is setting the stage for cleaner steel production, powered by smart and efficient scrap handling.
